Flue Gas

Flue gas is produced as a byproduct when fossil fuels like coal, natural gas and fuel oil are burned in a boiler to generate electricity. This gas is released into the atmosphere through a pipe or chimney that transports the gases post combustion in a boiler or steam generator

Flue gas consists of a mixture of toxic and non-toxic gases in different concentration. The main components of flue gas are carbon dioxide, oxides of sulphur and nitrogen along with water vapor. Various technologies are available to remove the pollutants like CO2, sulphur dioxide etc in the flue gas that includes flue gas desulphurization, electrostatic precipitator, scrubbing through solvent.
